Darling Irrigation specialises in water use efficiency and offers extensive hydraulic capabilities for the mining industry across Australia. Below are a few projects Darling Irrigation has been involved with.
Tailings dam plumbing – Eastern Star Gas, Narrabri
Eastern Star Gas required the construction of adequate plumbing to a tailings dam in the Pilliga Forrest near Narrabri and engaged Darling Irrigation for the job.
Darling Irrigation undertook the following activities:
- Pipeline installation
- Poly manifold fabrication
- Entry and exit pipework at Tailings Dam
- Valving
- Quick coupling connections
During the project, Darling Irrigation was also able to ensure a certified occupational health and safety and quality system, licensed poly welding and provide a State Water Accredited Water Meter Installer.
The outcome of the project was a lined tailings dam with poly manifolds and valves to enable safe storage of tailings water.
Bore water supply project – Endeavour Mine, Cobar
The Endeavour Mine engaged Darling Irrigation to provide 10l/s flowrate to one of the mine site processing plants, in an area with very little groundwater resource and low permeability rock layers. Darling Irrigation’s solution revolved around groundwater extraction from a number of boreholes, linked to provide a cumulative required flow and involved the following activities:
- Pipeline installation to complete network piping
- Bore testing and maximum yield analysis
- Sensitivity analysis on affect to overall groundwater table
This successful project resulted in Endeavour Mine having sufficient water to processing units and production maintained.
