Darling Irrigation & Polycon Engineering have been working collaboratively with the professional team at Mt Buller Ski Lifts for some years now. We had the opportunity once again work with Mt Buller Ski Lifts to oversee current upgrades as well as creating snow making capabilities for the mountain.
Paul and his team from Mt Buller Ski Lifts are working their way through stages over the annual summer breaks, to upgrade existing ski runs, adding snow making to extend the available season and usable area. Our products are used in the supply of air to the different Snow Gun points, both fixed and portable, along various ski runs across the mountain. This is a variation from our usual supply, as we normally work with water transfer for Mining, Irrigation and Civil Industries, however due to the adverse conditions and customer requirements we supply product for pipelines to be used for air to be mixed with water in the process of snow making.
In 2019 we have supplied the pipeline for an existing ski run on the south side of the mountain that will have snow making added to it to extend the snow coverage thus extending the usable timeframe over the winter season.
In previous years the snow making team have utilized electrofusion fittings to complete works, this was quite labor and time consuming. As the expansion process grows and evolves so does the need to ensure that costs and timeframes are maintained to manageable levels. In 2019 we explored the opportunity to have an outside team of professionals come in and Butt weld the pipeline, being both faster and more cost efficient.
Campaspe Irrigation was successful over other contractors in being awarded the works which will be completed over the summer period in readiness for the 2020 season.
We are looking forward to producing more solutions for their next stage of upgrades and redevelopment.
